Not mundane

It's been another week of "simple," "everyday" blessings. (I put those words in quotes because they really create an oxymoron when tied together with "blessings." Those little, simple, everyday [whatever mundane adjective] are really the big deals that I want to stop and thank God for, and let Him know that I notice!

I got to Starbucks' new Chile Mocha last Sunday afternoon.  I was a little afraid that it would taste like tacos, but it didn't at all.  It was yummy.  It was a blessing to my mouth, warmth to my body, and the caffeine brought relief from a headache.

Sylvia entered the t-shirt design contest for String Project.  I really like the fact that she incorporated the "Every Person is Important" saying that the teachers remind them of often.  I love that she has this group of people who come together to learn and share a common interest and goal!

I made this child's owl hat this week when asked by a friend who wanted one for her daughter for Christmas.  I think it's so adorable; I'm going to make more.

Dawn and I needed some friend time, so I invited her and the boys she watches to come over for the morning on Thursday.  Triple blessings: I got to have time with Dawn!  I got to hold baby Ryder!

And I got to have a little one playing with trains in the house for a day!  Caeden brought his trains down Wednesday night and built a track for Griffin to play with.  He did play with it, and even watched a Thomas the Train video before he disassembled the track by literally getting too into it.  Then he watched Woody (Toy Story).  So fun!

The AWE Sessions on Thursday night was cool.

These guys had a moment that I loved hearing/watching talking guitar.

Jeremy held a meeting at lunch at school on Friday for all the kids interested in JH/HS wrestling!  I'm very proud of him and excited for him to have this opportunity.  (I'd also appreciate some extra and specific prayers for all of us as we navigate the next several months with the difficult schedule.)

So, these are just a few examples of the extra-awesome blessings of the week.
Thanks be to God!

Homecoming Dance

While Jeremy and Caeden spent the afternoon in Colfax at the JFL games/concession stand, here at the house it was all about getting Annah and her friends Alexis and Shelby ready for the homecoming dance!

I got to do Annah's hair.

More hair and makeup...

Someone got a really good [fake] insult in on Annah, so she took a moment to bang out "mad song."

All by herself, Sylvia made dinner for the girls while they were getting ready!  They requested mac and cheese, and she also made green beans, fruit salad, and brownies from scratch.  What a gift!

Alexis and Caeden had a valley girl insult challenge while wielding lightsabers in the living room.

Several members of both Alexis' and Shelby's families met us at the park in Arrowsmith for pictures.

 Some of the paparazzi...

You know me...

The girls wanted to continue the lightsaber tradition they started last year.

They crack me up!

They have a little sass too.

But mostly they are sweet girls with great friendship!

You can still love to swing, even when you're almost 16!

Walking through playground rocks in strappy formal heels is not really a great idea...

We were fortunate to find Annah's beautiful dress on Amazon again this year for a great price.
I love the color, and think she looks so lovely in it.

I crocheted her a little clutch to carry her necessities in to the dance.

Sylvia noticed the beautiful light of the sunset and got a couple good shots on my phone!

I crocheted a sparkly silver wrap for Annah to keep her warm going to and from the dance in the cool autumn evening chill, but it was still 80 degrees when I took the girls to the school.  So, we just took a few pictures, and will save the wrap for another special occasion.

Last minute hair fix before heading out...

I dropped the girls off at the school, and they ran across the parking lot to see Allison and Addie.  Everyone was awwwwwwww-ing at one another, so sweet.

Jeremy picked Annah up from the dance, and she was so tired when she got home.  She said it was fun, everyone had a good time, and her feet hurt from dancing.

What a special time!
