Sometimes substitute teaching can be really sweet. Last week, I spent a whole Friday in 3rd grade, and several of the little girls made me bracelets and wrote me precious notes.
Today, I subbed half day in junior high health and math. When the math class left, I noticed this was left on the board. I think some of the kids recognize how tough it is to be a sub and basically get very little respect. It's so encouraging when they say nice things to me.
Caeden has grown non-stop these last 3 years of junior high!
Caeden was asked to stand to be recognized as runner-up for the Outstanding Scholar award.
Mr. Campbell, addressing the class, encouraged them to live life to the fullest.
Caeden is officially done with junior high school now!
And that means, he is in high school!
Gram caught him first!

Caeden's friend Evan is looking forward to being in high school with Caeden--and on the same wrestling team together again. It was so nice of him to come to promotion to support Caeden!

We had strawberry cake with strawberry frosting and strawberry ice cream to celebrate at home!
Caeden went with a group of JH students to a Peoria Chiefs game today, as a reward for having good grades and no disciplinary problems. It was a really nice day for a game!
Caeden had his last track meet of the season today--Sectionals! I didn't make it at all, because I was teaching this morning, then had to do the girls' hair for prom. Jeremy was there with him all day. He ran his mile in about the same time he has all season. There were very few practices this season because of the weather challenges! We are glad Caeden was part of the team, and that he ran what his team most needed him to run even when no one else wanted to run the mile.
The 8th grade boys team were Sectional champs overall today! And several kids will advance to the state meet next weekend.
Caeden is the tall kid almost everywhere he goes. It's been that way for years now, but it's still strange to me that my kid is the tall one!
Ridgeview hosted a big JH track invitational today. Jeremy was there watching all morning, after taking Sylvia to get her license.
I got there in time to watch Caeden run the mile!
He's definitely pacing himself better!

On the first day of Spring Break, Annah called a musical rehearsal for the leads, and I had to open the school so they could get on stage. I decided to practice some of the music, since I'll be playing. So, we were at school for a few hours on the first day of Spring Break.
On the second day of Spring Break (and the first), Caeden had [optional] track practice. A new timing system has been purchased, and the coaches were figuring out how to set it up and use it. Caeden was glad to have practice, and we were at school again on the second day of Spring Break.
On the third day of Spring Break, Sylvia "The Hammer" Lopshire had another early morning occupational therapy session.
