I finally got Caeden to the orthodontist this week for his consultation...probably a year and a half after we were told he should go.

While we were in the waiting room, he picked up a cooking magazine and found a recipe he wanted me to try.  I'm surprised he's interested in it, but will definitely be making it asap!

Dr. B said Caeden has an extreme overbite, and laid out the whole plan for Caeden's process.  We opted to wait until March (after wrestling) to start, but he'll definitely be a braces boy for a couple years.

The kids got the upstairs tree put up and decorated this week, so it's feeling a little Christmas-y around here.  

State Scholars

Ridgeview's Illinois State Scholars were named this week, and Annah is among them!  

Here is the announcement on the school website, and the state website. It's a pretty big deal, and we are proud of all these kids!

JH Concert

Tonight was the middle school concert, include 5th-8th grade.

For some of my favorite 5th graders, it was their first band concert!

Alex is one of my piano students.

So is Carly, and Caleb is my friend Megan's son.

Gracie and Nola were there to watch Miles, but they latched onto Sylvia as soon as they saw her.

Since I was playing, I don't have any photos of the choir, but Annah took video!
Caeden has a small solo/duet in the first song.

The JH band started with a medley from Jurassic Park,--appropriately conducted by a T-Rex!

Hahaha!

It's really fun to watch Caeden play all the different percussion instruments!

Annah accompanied the band on a pretty version of Silent Night.

HS Concert

The Ridgeview High School winter concert was tonight, and it was great and fun as usual!

I snapped a pic this morning while the choir was rehearsing an a cappella number.

The Vocal Jazz shirts came in today!  It's the design Annah did last year, but this year, each section got their own color!

The ladies of Midnight Blues were featured on a medley of Firework/Girl on Fire that Annah arranged and taught them.  Mr. R. did some beatboxing to accompany them.

The band sounded great.  It's pretty crazy that they don't start working on the music for this concert until late October after marching band season is over!

So Festive

We drove home from Indiana today, and then borrowed Shannon's truck to go get our Christmas tree from Growing Grounds.

The teenagers were snarky.

We love this tradition!

It didn't take us long at all to find the perfect tree--only a few minutes.

We bought a spray with a blue ribbon for the Ramirez fam, because the blue made us think of Addie.
