While the girls and I were doing the wedding thing today, Jeremy was participating in the 23rd Annual Craig E. Fischer Memorial Golf Outing in Naperville with his NCC wrestling friends today. He even sponsored a hole in our family's name this year!
And Caeden marched in his very first parade without any of us there to watch him!!!
This was the only photo I could find with Caeden in it posted online by one of the other freshman band moms. You can see the back of Caeden with his grey shorts with the white snare drum harness over his shoulders. (Right behind the big sousaphone.)
We got letters from the girls today!!! They wrote them Sunday or before, but it sure sounds like they are loving Blue Lake! I'm so relieved and happy for them!
Caeden's friend Loren has started taking piano lessons with me this summer, and today he stayed after his lesson and hung out with Caeden all day! They played some Xbox (He really liked Battlefront.) and Wii Sports and Mariokart.
They also had a Nerf battle in the house after lunch. In the afternoon and evening, we went to SF Park!
We all had fun doing mini-golf, even though we were terrible!
They got in a few games of tetherball!
Loren won 2 out of 3.
They tried out the clay tennis court.
The geese are taking over the whole park--and the whole city, actually! And they are not nice!
They hissed at us!
Basketball was next!
Almost too big for the slide, but not quite!
We got some McDonald's for these hungry teenage boys, then hit the pools! They tried out the lazy river first. Then, we actually closed out the park, leaving at 8pm.
It was a good day--2 thumbs up!
I love that Caeden and Loren are friends!!!!!

Here at Mom and Dad's we had a nice day too. Last night, Erin made an awesome spaghetti squash casserole and Mom made an awesome lasagna. This evening, Sylvia and Tessa made this super yummy cake. I made a cherry cheesecake and broccoli rice casserole.
It's so wonderful to get to share meals and spend a lot of time with Travis' family when we are here. I know we wear them out, and it's not easy on their schedule when we are here, but we treasure the time with them all as well as Mom and Dad!
We played lots of Pit these last few days! So fun!!
The girls had to be in Saybrook at 9:30 this morning for a little more marching band rehearsal and warm-up. Less than half of the band members were there, but it is always fun to watch the new freshman learn.

I feel for Sylvia and Isabella, who have a new instrument [mellophone] to learn at the same time they're learning how to march! And it's not an easy one to carry, either!

As Caeden and I were walking to find a spot to stand and watch the parade, a voice yelled his name from out of a fire truck. He turned around to see Owen and Eliza!
They were riding in the truck with their grandpa.
The band was early in the parade lineup this year--right behind the firetrucks and sirens--so they didn't have to march behind any horses. Mr. M said that was ok if they weren't heard, because they were playing a new song and had less than half their members present. Ha!
They finished the monster stomp and weren't playing when they came by the spot where we were standing.

They started playing just after they passed us, then played a whole song while marking time as the ambulances went around the corner very slowly.
My piano student, Alex, had come to his 8:30 lesson this morning in his Cub Scout uniform, because he was marching in the parade. He spotted me and waved, what a sweetie!

There were only 2 trumpet players who could come today, so Mr. M jumped in to play trumpet as well. Sylvia was a bit nervous about playing right into his ears!

I had to get some pictures of Reece playing that big bass drum for the first time to text to his momma, who is in Italy visiting her sister right now.

They were fortunate to have nice mild weather today, and didn't even break a sweat marching the short parade! It was a fun time.
Meanwhile, Jeremy is up in Naperville golfing at the 21st annual Fischer Golf Outing! Such a great day for it!
