Caeden had a fun swim meet at Fairbury this evening.

He swam the(freestyle) lap of the 100 medley.

Stars and Stripes Parade

Annah started high school marching band today!

The band was supposed to practice Friday evening, but Mr. M got stuck in a terrible traffic jam heading out of Chicago and couldn't get back here.  So, the band met a couple hours before the parade  this morning and practiced.  It was a little disconcerting for the freshmen who had never marched before to get 2 hours of practice and then march right into their first parade!  But they did a good job.

When we arrived, Madison helped Annah find a good lyre and flip-folder.

They had a nice shady spot and a cool morning to work on marching.

It was fun to see the band come by, and to see Annah marching with them!!!

 It really was perfect weather, and not too hot for a parade!

Inside Out at the Drive-In

I took the kids to the Harvest Moon Drive-In tonight to see Inside Out!

I really like the fun of the drive-in.  It's such a rare thing anymore.  It makes for a fun summer tradition, and it's nice that we have one so close.

The doors open at 6:30, and we got right in.

They are doing a social media contest called Minion Madness, and we had to take pictures with the minions when they came by our spot.

We had a couple hours to just chill before the movie.  It was a gorgeous evening to be outside!

(It's kind of funny...either our car has gotten smaller...or the kids have gotten bigger...or both...

This was back in 2007.)

Usually, we take advantage of the yummy treats they sell at the drive-in, but tonight we packed healthier goodies, like mangoes.

We played some UNO and some "Baloney Sandwich."

Caeden had a little trouble with his thermos when he opened it!

When I took a quick trip to the bathroom, I came back to some surprise selfies on my phone...

 

They even play the National Anthem before the movie!

 

The drive-in does feel a lot like going back in time to simpler days...until they pulled up their website on the big screen at intermission and demonstrated how to get around it.  Hee hee!

We all really enjoyed the movie.  It's a beautiful look at emotions, memories, growing up and changing, and life!  Makes you think and feel a lot.  

What a great night with my precious kiddos!  Praisin' the Lord!
