Father's Day

This morning the kids and I had the honor of leading worship at Mahomet Church of the Nazarene.  Since it was Father's Day, Jeremy brought the bacon--literally.  He stopped at Bloomington Meats yesterday and picked up 15 pounds of frozen bacon in all kinds of cool flavors.  He gave them out to all the men and most of the women in honor of Father's Day, because, well...who doesn't love bacon?!

We arrived at about 7:45 to check out the setup and do a little rehearsing before prayer.

VIDEO CLIP: Sylvia sounded so beautiful on I Surrender All.

(Jeremy took full video of each song we did, I think, but we haven't uploaded it off his phone yet.)

I was so glad Zac joined us on drum set!  We are used to more instrumentation than piano and voices, and he is great at being sensitive to the direction the music and spirit are moving!

Caeden is having such a rough time with his changing voice!  Yesterday when we were rehearsing, he was about to give up.  We decided he would sing one verse of one song.  This morning, he was feeling better about things, and actually joined in more with his low "morning voice."

It was pretty awesome to get to make music and lead worship with my kids, and even more awesome to watch them do it without me on a couple songs!!!

Pastor Scott did such a nice job bringing the message this morning!

It was a lovely morning together with our new Mahomet friends!

We had no afternoon activities at church due to it being Father's Day, so we headed home.  Even though it was really hot outside, Jeremy grilled some excellent ribeyes for lunch.  We enjoyed the afternoon together at home!  In the evening, we all chilled in the living room.  It was a pretty low-key celebration, but hopefully Jeremy enjoyed having a little bit of time to relax at home.

Father's Day Weekend

Around this place, we sure do love Dad! We were forbidden to buy him anything for Father's Day, so we just enjoyed time with him this weekend.  (We did get him some cards and some candy.)

Sylvia enjoys chatting with her dad while he grills.  She also enjoys making goofy faces when I try to take her picture--much like her dad often does.

Jeremy grilled some smoked pork ribs, chili brats, and burgers yesterday.

Our friend Scott posted this picture of a restored Blazer on his Facebook yesterday, and I immediately recognized it as the kind of Blazer we used to have on the farm when I was kid.  It made me think of fishing with my dad.  Our Blazer had an 8-track player, and we would put the windows down and listen to music while we were fishing!  I must have been pretty little, but it's a good memory.

This morning our friends Sierra and Savanna were at church!  They are here for a week or so to stay with their Grandma while their dad goes to Nazarene General Assembly in Indianapolis.  We've really missed them a lot since they moved to Texas, and were so happy to see them!

After church, we went out to lunch at Monical's with the Mann family to celebrate the dads! We all love watching the kids interact.  Even though there's a decent age difference, they all love each other a lot.  Eryn and Meagan are such sweethearts!

And we always love spending time with Kevin and Regina!

How thankful we are for Jeremy--this day and every day.  He is a great father, and we are so blessed to have him leading our family.
I am also incredibly thankful for my dad.  He is a wonderful father, and now grandfather.
I'm thankful for my father-in-law as well.  He grew up without his dad, and he showed Jeremy many ways to be a good dad.

I am most thankful for our heavenly Father and His guidance in our lives!

Father's Day

It's Father's Day!  We tried to celebrate Jeremy today, but no matter how much we do, we couldn't possibly show him how much he means to us and how much we really love and appreciate him and all he does for us.

The kids gave him two cards before we left for church this morning--one sweet and one silly.  Then they had a group hug.

The girls and I served in PoC K.I.D.S. this morning, and Jeremy was the foyer greeter/monitor.  After tear-down, we decided to go to the pool!

These 4 stopped rolling their eyeballs at me for about 15 seconds so I could take this picture.
I love it.  And I love them.

As we finished scarfing down our beach house burgers, Jeremy gave each of the kids a quarter to buy fish food.  We all leaned over the fence and watched the fish swirl and swish.

Then we enjoyed a couple hours in the sun and pools.  It was great!
When we got home, Jeremy spent a couple hours mowing.  Not so fun, but he has been  mowing every other day with all the rain we've been getting.

We sure do love that guy.

"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
