After church today, we went over to Peoria and had lunch at the Burger Barge. It is a self-described hole-in-the-wall, but it was a fun experience and yummy food.
Caeden had the Santa Fe burger, Sylvia and Annah both had the Illinois burger.
Jeremy had the Luau burger!
In stead of fries, we ordered onion rings, cheese blobs, jalapeño poppers, and homemade potato chips to share.
I had a Shrimp Po-Boy on garlic toast.
After lunch, we drove around and found a shopping center. We hit some good sales at Gordman's, which was nice because our Gordman's closed last year.
We actually went to Peoria because the Midnight Blues were singing the National Anthem at the Peoria Rivermen hockey game this afternoon! As we were gathering, I was asked go out on the ice with the group and take a picture of them. (So I took lots of pictures of the experience, of course.)
The group had a guide to lead them to a "backstage" area to warmup.

The group practiced how to stand for performance, and warmed up.
They sang through the anthem a couple times, then the guide came back and said they were ready for them to get into place.

After they got in place, they waited for a while as the pregame activities started...
The teams were announced and skated onto the ice!
A local cub scout troupe presented the flag and saluted it while Midnight Blues sang.
I took video while standing behind them, but most of the sound was out inside the arena.

We went back to sit with the rest of the families.
We had a a good crowd of Ridgeview folks, since this has been planned for about 6 months, and each student in the group was supposed to sell 4 tickets. It was fun to enjoy the game with lots of friends!
One of the between period activities was a race between 2 toilets on sleds!?! Pretty funny!
There was also a Texas Roadhouse gift pack giveaway that one of the mascots was doing in the stands. Charlie yelled the loudest and waved his arms until he was red in the face!
And, I guess it was worth it, because he won the prize pack!
I actually enjoy hockey. I think it's amazing that they are on skates/ice in the first place!
THese guys enjoyed the cheesy music played between plays. I think this was Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), because Sandy is clearly pretending not to know the kids as they sing along. Haha!
At one point, one of the mascots was in the stands and came into our crowd and stole Tate's shoe right off his foot!
It was pretty funny, because he walked around with it for about 5 minutes, pretending to try to find someone else it belonged to.
The part that wasn't funny was the fact that he didn't know Tate broke that foot about 6 months ago, had surgery, and has been in intense physical therapy on it since then. He kind of twisted it when he yanked Tate's shoe off. Tate is a good sport though.
He was entertained by the whole ordeal, and glad to have his shoe back.
