On Monday I found out I am pregnant again! It hasn't sunk in yet though, I don't think. But, I decided to try keeping a journal of this pregnancy, since I wish I had one from my last one. I'm sure there'll be things I remember throughout and compare with this one.
I warn anyone who might read it that it is a personal journal. It will contain personal and descriptive entries, and may not be for the faint of heart. ;)
How I found out about this pregnancy...
I've been having extremely irregular cycles (every 2 wks. or more frequent--yeah, really fun) since I was on Prednisone for an allergic reaction to antibiotics in November. So, I had an ultrasound Monday morning to make sure I didn't have any cysts. I knew the nurse would ask me the first day of my last cycle, so I looked it up that morning, and realized it was May 17th. Hmmm, that's been a while. But, since I've been so irregular, I didn't really think I was pregnant. The nurse told me before the ultrasound that if I was pregnant, she probably wouldn't be able to tell on the ultrasound, since I would only be a few weeks along. So, after the ultrasound, she took the pictures to have the doctor look at them, and came back with an order for a pregnancy test. I went to the hospital, had my blood drawn and came home.
I called my OBGYN's office that afternoon to get the results, and just as I dialed, Carlene (my neighbor) knocked on the door to go for a walk. I waved her in and told her I was going upstairs to wake Annah. As I picked Annah up out of her crib, the receptionist asked me what I was hoping for [in the test results]. I told her either way would be fine. She said, "Well, you are pregnant!" I screamed (quietly), "Oh my gosh! Really?!"
Then I had to set up my next 2 appointments. I'll go next Monday to see the nurse and go over my past medical/pregnancy history. The following Monday I will meet with Dr. Weaver. I'm not sure if I'll have an ultrasound then or what.
It was hard not to tell Carlene on our walk! Of course, I wanted to tell Jeremy first though, and only waited a couple minutes after he got home to tell him. Actually, I taught Annah to say "sister" in answer to the question, "Annah, can you tell Daddy what you're going to be?" Jeremy didn't understand what she was saying though, because it sounds more like "sitter" than "sister." Even after I told him she was saying, "sister," he looked like he didn't quite get it. I told him that Annah was going to be a sister. It still took him a minute for it to register what I was trying to tell him. But, when he realized, he looked surprised and very happy. He had a smile on his face for the rest of the night. He immediately picked up the phone to call his parents and tell them. Then he called his grandma. I called my mom then, but she was eating supper and called me back a bit later. After I talked to her and Dad, I called Travis and Erin.
I want to tell all of our friends, but part of me thinks we should wait a little longer. In some ways, I think that if something were to happen with the baby, I would want friends and family to know anyway. I guess we will at least wait until I go to the doctor again and figure out a due date. I think it is around the 3rd week of February.
I am feeling fine so far, just tired, which is really nothing new. There is so much to think about, and I don't think my mind has settled down enough to make a real realization yet. I am very happy about this though! I got down on my knees Monday afternoon and started thanking the Lord, asking him for help and for a healthy baby. Whether this child is a boy or girl (which we don't plan [as of now] to find out until he/she is born), it will be a billion blessings sent to us from heaven!
