This Friday

The girls don't have/let me do their hair very often, but Sylvia was having one of those days yesterday and didn't feel like doing her hair herself. Fishtail braids are about the only cool looking braid I know how to do.

The girl who has cut my hair for the past few years moved to a different shop.  I know this because she called several of her clients that I referred to her and they told me.  She didn't call me, so I guess I was not a good customer for her.  Our neighbor across the street owns a salon in Lexington, and today I went to her for a haircut.  She is very professional, and I will continue to go to her.

One of Jeremy's coworkers sent me this picture of him being crowned "King of Life" today.  An inside joke at work that was apparently good for a laugh on a Friday...

Sylvia stayed home from school today because she had a fever when she woke up this morning.  She had the sniffles yesterday, but it's a full-on cold today.  She has rested and watched H20 all day. This evening Jeremy, Annah, and Caeden went to the first football game (and marching band halftime show) of the season, but Sylv didn't feel up to going.  She and I stayed home together and watched Heidi with Shirley Temple.  She was disappointed it wasn't more like the book, but thought Shirley was pretty cute.  Although I'm sorry she isn't feeling well, I'm glad for a day with Sylvia.

Mini golf

It was quite chilly this morning at 54 degrees!  Sure feels different than our usual July, but I love it!!  We gave Simon this sweatshirt the kids have outgrown--totally appropriate.  

This evening, we met Jeremy at work, then went back to SF park.  "Uncle Jeremy" picked up some LC's on the way.  Andrew was a very careful helper, getting the root beer from the car to the picnic table.  

The boys have been hoping and hoping all week to go mini golfing.  They were so excited!

Celebration!  It went in the hole!

What a privilege it's been to have Andrew and Simon with us this week.  I hope they will have good memories of this time together!

All Lopshire boys must love to dance!  We cranked up some tunes and danced for about an hour in the living room this morning!

My sis-in-law, Erin, texted me today to say her weather app was saying it was 122 degrees at my house.  She wondered if that was really true.  I looked, and my app said the same!  It was definitely not 122.  It was about 88, actually, which is much warmer than it has been most of the summer!  Good for a laugh though!

Andrew and Simon are enjoying Caeden's trains.  I'm enjoying seeing them played with again!  It's been a while since they've come out from under the bed.  I miss the days of trains!

This evening we took all the kids to SF Park for some swimming.  Both Simon and Andrew are a bit smitten with Sylvia.  Andrew has been trying to arrange alone time with her all week so they can have a date, and Simon is calling her his girlfriend.  Sweet.

We packed our supper and ate at the clubhouse.

The kids looked for fish in the pond, but I don't think they saw any.  There were ducks swimming by though.

The kids started a great, loud, worship singalong on our way home.  They sang every word of Strangely Dim, Hold Me, Where I Belong, and a few others too.  It was beautiful!

Some more sunshine

This afternoon, we all went to town together.  We dropped Jeremy off at the gym and the kids and I went to WalMart.  We bought some clothes needed for upcoming concerts/performances, and went back to pick up Jeremy.

We went to SF Park and enjoyed the beautiful, sunny, afternoon.  The kids wanted to play on the playgrounds at the park.  Jeremy thought it was funny that they still wanted to do that at ages 9, 11, and 13, but I am glad they still enjoy just being kids!!

We always institute a 5-putt maximum, or we'd be there for a week.  ;)

We grabbed a quick supper at Pizza Hut, and went to setup at church.

Caeden does NOT like to help.  He much prefers to hang out with his friend Samuel and play video games on iPad or iPhone while everyone else works.  But, we told him he was going to help tonight.  He did help a little bit, but that was pretty much over once Sammy arrived.  

We tend to grumble and groan at the thought of spending every Saturday night setting up, but once we are there it is always a blessing to be with our church family and work together.

Icky Sicky, Grrrr

    Last Friday (23rd) we had dinner with Kevin, Dustin, Mary Jean and Jeff, Dmitri, Michaela, and Mason, at the Bayern Stube in Gibson City.   The food there is great  authentic German food, and it was nice to spend some time with friends.
    

Saturday Jeremy joined them all again at the Havens' residence to view the 1st Ohio State football game of the season.
    

We've been having a little bit of trouble getting Annah to go in the nursery at church lately, but she did better on Sunday.  Soon she will be going into the Toddler Room, after she turns 2.

I am now sick. I have an icky sinus infection. I called my OBGYN's office yesterday, and they were about to prescribe Zithromax for me, when they realized I am allergic to every single possible kind of antibiotic out there. They told me to call my primary care physician. The nurse there pretty much told me I can never take antibiotics again ever in my life. Great! :-/  Hrmph.

Annah has a sinus infection too.  Hopefully they'll go soon and Jeremy won't get it!
