Air Hug

This morning, we decided we needed to give Sylvia some time to see if she was feeling well enough to travel all the way home.  She woke up feeling fine, and was able to eat a small breakfast.  However, we didn't want Krampa to get any germs from her and get sick, so they exchanged an air hug from a distance when saying goodbye.  

She is feeling fine now, and we're glad to be home.  

Extended Mc Fam Thanksgiving

The extended Mc family gathered today at the CC FCoG to thank the Lord and celebrate His many blessings together.  

The kids were all so glad to see each other.  (Minus Sylvia, who stayed back at Krampa's and Grams house with Jeremy because she had the stomach flu, poor girl.)

It was such a nice space for a gathering, and Mindy added lovely fall decor to the tables.

When everyone was almost finished eating, Travis and Scott made a realization and stood a few feet from Aunt Juanita.  They cleared their throats and just stared at her for a minute.  Once they were noticed, one of them said, "Something is missing..." and we all realized that Aunt Needy didn't bring her chicken and noodles!  Needy's Noodles (often mischievously called "Noody's Needles") have been a favorite forever, and they are an expectation at every family gathering! She has been forgetting here and there over the past few years how much they are loved and expected, and the guys wanted to remind her that Needy's Noodles are still a beloved expectation!

After the meal, the family band got ready.  It was a smaller group this year, but it's so neat to see the younger kids joining in.  

Jeremy had managed to pack Sylvia's french horn and cello, his trumpet, and Annah's clarinet in our trunk along with 2 laptop bags and all 5 of our bags of clothes for 5 days, but due to Sylvia being sick the only instrument that went to the family band today was Annah's clarinet!  Oh my.  Aunt Wanda kindly brought a guitar for Caeden to play so he could join in too.

Dad, Caeden, and I left early, and Annah came home with Travis, Tessa, and Mom.  It was sweet to see everyone, even though the time was short.

Mc Fam Christmas

Tonight, we celebrated Christmas since we won't be back to Krampa's and Gram's in December.  For supper, Jeremy picked up some pizza, sausage rolls, and breadsticks from Papa's Place.  After the guys came in from trying to find Trav's deer, we opened presents.

 

 

Papaw and Uncle Jeremy helped Bryce open his "lelicopter."

Tessa was pretty excited about the Anna Barbie we gave her, and Caeden is thrilled about baseball cards from Krampa and Gram and a Lego set from Travis and fam.

It's so fun to watch the excitement the little ones have when they open a new toy!

So bless to have this time together.  I love my family.

Crochet and Slouchy Beanies

I've been doing some crocheting recently, trying to sell a few items to earn a little extra cash for Christmas. Sylvia has kindly modeled the items so I could post pictures to Facebook to sell things.

For this little cowl, I had fun trying a ladder stitch with some yellow vintage yarns that were my grandma's.

I love the look of broomstick lace, but it is kind of awkward and time consuming to do, so I usually stick to smaller projects for this stitch.  This apricot cuff bracelet is made with bamboo yarn that is really silky soft.

I sold this purple slouchy beanie right away and was asked to make more.

Just having fun trying out new things...

This is a chain necklace scarf made with cotton yarn.

I used the same cotton yarn to make this 5-strand braided cowl.
