A blur-of-a-day

Today was one of those days that kind of sped by in a blur.  Actually, this whole week has been that way, and I wasn't really anticipating it!

The kids were off school today for a teachers' in-service day.  Many in our community spent the day in Peoria, as our HS boys basketball team played their first game in the state championship this afternoon.  (Since I'm writing this after the fact, and it probably won't come up again...they lost their first game, but won their second, which means they were 3rd in the state.  Pretty cool!)  Back to today...Jeremy was working, and we had appointments to get to, so we didn't go to the game.

Our neighbors went over to Peoria to watch the Ridgeview game and another game which had a school one of their grandkids attends.  They would be gone for quite a while, so they asked Caeden if he would come over and take care of their dog Britney a couple times today.  I went over with him this morning to get the instructions, and for her to get used to him a little.  She is a sweet doggie, and we enjoyed a few minutes visiting with Cliff and Loretta.

At 10am, I had my weekly 1-on-1 meeting at church with Pastor Todd.  We recently had some schedule changes within the staff, and had to change our weekly staff meeting to monthly instead.  So, we instituted weekly 1-on-1 meetings with Pastor Todd.  He checks in with us on the #1 non-negotiable: How are we doing with staying daily in the presence of Jesus?  He also asks about our family, and we discuss our to-do lists and what things we need each other to do, and other general church business.
The kids usually come in and wait in the big sanctuary room if they have to come with me, but today there were inappropriate posters all over the room.  We rent from and share the building with the IBEW, and they had rented the room out for a 30th birthday party.  There were Beyonce posters and various things the kids decided not to look at for an hour.  They sat in the car and read.

After my meeting, the girls had an orthodontist appointment.  They both got new wires and bands.  Annah got 2 colors of green for St. Patrick's Day, and Sylvia got silver and blue -- her school colors.  Dr. said Sylvia's teeth had made a huge shift, that he is really impressed, and hopes that the rest of her treatment moves so quickly!  She wasn't really surprised, as she'd said she could feel her teeth shifting, and had quite a bit of pain.

After the appointment, the kids asked to have lunch at Moe's. We love Moe's!

Next, we went to Fleet Feet to get some running shoes for Sylvia.  She starts her first track season on Monday!  She thought it was a pretty cool process, as Kelly helped her choose shoes, socks, and inserts to help stabilize her ankles.  She can't wait to get started running!

After Fleet Feet, we planned to check out the new HyVee store that opened in Bloomington on Tuesday.  We drove by, and the parking lot was jammed.  Since we actually had a grocery list, we decided to wait a while before checking it out.  We went to Meijer instead.  By the time we finished our grocery shopping, got home and put it all away, we were too tired to cook.  We called Jeremy and asked him to bring Little Caesar's, and we sat down to watch Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

2 weeks old

Sylvia had her 2 week well-baby visit today.  Mom and I took the girls, and even with her help, we were still 20 minutes late.   I forgot that there are TWO  kids now, and I need to allow twice as long  for everything! ;)   Anyhow, Sylvia's appointment went very well.  She weighed 9 pounds, 7 ounces--a whole pound more than her birth weight already!  Guess that good ol' breastmilk really is "liquid gold"!  She measured 21 1/2 inches long too.

Mom picked out a pretty cream color of paint and she and I started painting Sylvia's room yesterday. It's looking really nice so far!

There is another new addition to the McEowen family... Welcome to Travis and Erin's new puppy--Tiller!  We're looking forward to meeting him--or at least seeing pictures soon!

Thanksgiving in Indiana

Since we last updated, Annah is doing much better.  My cold turned into bronchitis, and then I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics I was taking to get rid of the bronchitis.  I'mstill reacting, even after a shot in the hip and 4 days solid of Benadryl, Claritin and Prednisone.  The cough is still hanging on too.  Probably the worst part of it is that I'm now allergic to every family of antibiotics.  Now Jeremy is trying hard not to come down with  the sickness.

Anyway, we traveled home to Indiana  Wednesday night.  The Crabill family's Thanksgiving dinner was amazing as always, and with 54 people, the 3 tons of food was gone in about 15 minutes!  Eric and Marti graciously hosted the Lopshire's and the Frisch's for a wonderful afternoon dinner.  Cousin Wilson showed Annah how to play race cars.

Friday afternoon Annah successfully had her pictures taken at the studio.  We had a couple family shots done too.  Hopefully they'll turn out well and you may see them in a Christmas greeting.  After pictures, we went to Fred Toenges Shoes and Annah had her feet measured for the first time!  Grandma Vonda bought Annah her first pair of pre-walkers and a pair of pretty black patent leather size fours!  :)  Then we visited Uncle Travis and Aunt Erin's new apartment.  It's really nice!

Saturday we visited with Grandpa and Grandma Lopshire all day.  Annah loves their bright orange parakeets!  We stopped at Great Grandma DeHaven's for a few minutes on our way back to the McEowen supper.  Annah had fun playing with cousin Aidan on Friday night and Saturday.   Aidan is great at walking--even wearing his daddy's shoes, but Annah still prefers talking.  Over the weekend she learned to say, "radio," "water," and her favorite thing in the world right now is a "cracker!!!!"

A puppy!

I'm getting a puppy!  He is a teeny little purebred chocolate cocker spaniel.

These are pictures the lady I'm buying him from has sent me.
