The kids all had youth group sleepovers tonight, so Jeremy and I planned to finally go see Endgame before it's out of the theater. However, we didn't get Caeden dropped off at his sleepover until 7:15, and we were too tired to even think about seeing a 7:45 movie--especially one that's more than 3 hours long.  We are officially old.

Instead, Jeremy said we had to get some ice cream.  We went for Oberweiss.  

They have some yummy summer berry flavors!

We went home and were going to watch a movie there, but couldn't decide on anything and fell asleep.  I think our kids' teenage summer schedule is exhausting us!  They stay up into the wee hours, which keeps us from sleeping well, but we get up early and then feel like zombies all day while they sleep til late morning!

Thursday

I got up to watch the sunrise at 5:45 this morning, but it was pretty cloudy and rainy.  

Hard to see the sun, but it was still beautiful!  It managed to peek through a little...

I finally got around to enjoying some coffee on the deck around 9am.

It sure is pretty here.

Climbing the dune path to the beach

I am totally enthralled watching the crabs dart around, so I took several minutes of videos of them. They're so cute!

Annah did come down to the beach for a bit this morning, but refused photos. 

This afternoon, Annah and I decided to lay out on the deck. We downloaded Careless Whisper and laughed and chatted listening to it.

This evening, Kevin and Regina and Jeremy and I went out!

We are a little selfie challenged.

Second attempt was clearer but not as fun...

We went down to Nags Head for dinner at Owens' Restaurant.  It has been in business almost 75 years, so we figured they must be doing something right and we should check it out.

The food was incredible!  My favorite thing in my meal were the scallops! 

We did have dessert too, which was excellent as well!

We made a stop at Walmart in Kill Devil's Hill on the way back to the house.  Gotta keep it realistic.

Our girls made mac 'n' cheese and chicken nuggets for supper, and the kids had so much fun together.  They were playing "feisty cat" when we came inside...

And we came back to a lovely sunset at the house!

Prom

Tonight was prom night for Annah and Sylvia!

We did hair at home this year, and had such a difficult time with their naturally curly locks and the crazy humidity still hanging around from all the flooding this week!  But they both turned out looking beautiful, even if they weren't quite ready when the guys got here.

We all drove into Normal, and met for photos on the Constitution Trail at the park behind the Connie Link Amphitheater--so many beautiful settings!

The Awkward Prom Pose

Sylvia and Jacob had dinner at Avanti's.

Annah's phone was pretty much dead most of the night, so she didn't take any photos at prom or after prom!  Her group got a last-minute dinner reservation at the Ozark House when they realized their reservation at Biaggi's had inadvertently been made at the Champaign location.

Jacob was on the junior prom committee, and wanted to get to the actual prom location a little early to check that things were as they should be.

The prom was at the Old Rugged Barn, with the theme "Rustic Elegance."

The teacher chaperones were there, and Sylvia convinced Mr. Scholp for a selfie!

Such an awesome group of teachers to chaperone!!!  They had code names for each other and for situations that might occur during the evening that would need attention.  So cool that they had fun together while chaperoning!

AfterProm was at a trampoline park, and there was a Photo Booth and lots of great prizes.

All reports were that it was fun, and everyone looked so glamorous!
