Comforting scripture

I'm still feeling fine physically today...but have been very emotional the past few days. I found these scriptures very comforting:

"Shall I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?" says the Lord. "Shall I who cause delivery shut up the womb?" says your God. - Isaiah 66:9

"To everything a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die..." - Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

"A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world." - John 16:21

No news

Since I always seem to go into labor in the middle of the night, I figure I should update the site in the morning so those who are watching for baby news know that we're not at the hospital. ;) I am feeling fine this morning, so I don't know if we'll be laboring today. Hope everyone is enjoying the nice fall weather!

False Alarm

We thought I might be in labor last night. I started feeling really icky around 4:30 yesterday, and was still feeling that way at bedtime. We both had a hard time getting to sleep because we were anxious, and didn't want to fall asleep only to have to get up to go to the hospital. But, I wasn't having regular contractions. I felt better when I woke up this morning, then had another period of feeling icky. But, right now (afternoon) I am feeling okay. I was thinking I would go into labor really really soon, but now I don't know.

I did go to the doctor this morning. I am still at 3 cm and 50% effaced. But, I suppose if I were any more dilated than that, I would definitely be in labor. So...I made an appointment for next Tuesday, but I'm really hoping I won't have to go!

Sunday night, Annah decided she was going to put a diaper on Elmo, and she did it with no instructions from anyone. We were so impressed; we told her she gets to change all of the baby's diapers! She said, "Okay! But, I'm not going to wipe its bottom." As Annah continued to play diaper-change with Elmo, Sylvia began to announce that Elmo had a "stinky pooey!" Since then, "stinky pooey" has been one of her favorite phrases for the past few days.

Yep, we're still waiting

I am 39 weeks, 2 days pregnant, and  yep, we're still waiting. We've had a nice weekend though. Yesterday, we did some errands and took the girls to the park with McDonald's [food] for lunch. Annah has been asking for the baby to be born every day for about the past 5 days. She is getting pretty anxious. We're not sure if she is more excited about meeting the baby, or the fact that grandparents and other family will be coming to our house soon. ;-) 

Friday night, Annah flooded our upstairs bathroom again. For some reason, she didn't turn off the water after washing her hands, and it was about 15-20 minutes before we went upstairs and found the situation. She felt really bad, and we were just glad we don't have carpet!

Sylvia has finally started to say, "I love you." It sounds more like, "ahfoo," but we love hearing it!!!

It's such a beautiful fall day today, we had to get some pictures in the pretty yellow fallen leaves of our front yard tree. 

Low heart rate

Today the baby's heartrate was low when the doctor checked it. She put me on the monitor for a few minutes, and saw that it was fine. Of course, it kind of freaked me out in the process though. She said my belly is measuring right on, and that I am now dilated to a "good 3 centimeters." She asked if I was wanting to be induced, and I told her I prefer not to be. (She told me that my last ultrasound showed a due date of 10/2/04, which would make me now overdue.) She also asked how big my biggest baby had been, and I reminded her that Annah was 8 pounds, 13 ounces. She asked if I thought this one was as big, but I told her that I feel like, no, this one is smaller. So, she didn't pressure me to be induced. I think since I am dilated to 3, she thinks I will labor somewhat soon. I hope that's the case.


The girls and I got McDonald's and went to the park with Carlene and Ashley after school today. It was nice to be outside, and the kids had fun playing on the playground. Sylvia even went down the big slide again and again. She is a brave one.
