Camp Enrichment

The last week of July, Annah went to Camp Enrichment at her school. She got to play t-ball, run through sprinklers, sponge paint, make ice cream, and lots more. She is very ready to go back to school now!

Caeden has started pointing this week. He is pulling up on everything now, and is quite the adventurer. We are definitely starting to see the difference between girls and boy!

Crunchy Munchy Honeycakes

We made Crunchy Munchy Honeycakes today--like the kind The Wiggles sing about making. Annah was so excited to make them, and then after she took her first bite she said, "Mommy, I don't like coconut."

I like coconut, but the things are really not as good as they sound. Oh well; we had fun making them.

Sylvie Says

Part of a conversation I had with Sylvia today:

Sylvia: Where is God?

Me: Well, He’s everywhere, but we can’t see Him with our eyes.

Sylvia: I can!

Me: You can? What does He look like?

Sylvia: Chockat chips.

Hot Illinois

Today was a super-hot day here! It was at least 100, and we heard the heat index was around 115! Miserable-hot, is what I like to call it! Ugh!

9 months

Caeden visited Dr. K. today for his 9-mo. check-up. Dr. said Caeden has a great smile! We agree! :) Caeden gained almost 4 pounds in the past 3 months, and now weighs 20 lbs., 14 oz. (Sylvia only weighs 23, so he is closing in fast on her!) He is somewhere around 30 inches tall. (I'm just not convinced the way they measure babies is very accurate.) He's pretty tall for his age anyway.

Yesterday, I was taking a shower while Annah was eating her breakfast. Annah came into the bathroom and told me that she had tried to feed Caeden a piece of her cereal (We had minutes before discussed her NOT EVER putting anything into Caeden's mouth.), but that he spit it out. I told her (among other things) that she would be getting a spanking when I got out of the shower. A few moments later she came back in the bathroom and said, "Mommy, I gave myself a spanking; a hard one! You don't have to do it now!"

Happy Birthdays to Todd K. and Andy H. today!!

Caeden turned 9 months old on Friday, and must have thought it was a good time for some milestones. He is now able to do a real crawl for a little bit at times. AND, he can pull up to standing!!! Of course I want him to grow and learn, but I have to admit that I am also sad that our baby is growing so quickly. I am definitely a believer that time seems to pass more quickly the more children you have!

Catching Lightning Bugs

These silly girls had fun playing with mittens and fleece hats today, July 8!

I seem to remember some silly girl I once knew wearing her a sweater and her mother's boots in the middle of summer.

Is this silliness possibly genetic?!?

Annah got to catch lightning bugs tonight when she got home from Bible school. She wanted to take them to her room so Sylvia could see them when she woke up, but when we told her that they probably wouldn't be alive in the morning, she was sad and decided to let them go.

Thursday, July 7, 2005 - Now that Caeden can sit up, he can take a bath with Sylvie. He loves to splash!!

Vacation's Over

We're ba-ack!

We were on vacation--the kids and I since June 20th, and then Jeremy joined us for the past week. It was so nice to get away for a while; we're glad to be back home now.

Every time we are away from home for a while, it seems like the kids grow up a bunch. Caeden changed a LOT while we were gone, including gaining a whole new perspective on things by learning to LIKE sitting. He also got an 8th tooth.

Sylvia's talking ability seemed to grow a lot, and we think she got over some of her shyness.

Annah became a regular FISH in the pool at Gram & Krampa's--and can now swim around all by herself (with a life jacket on) and jump in by herself too!
