Track Banquet

We went to Sylvia's JH Track banquet at school tonight.  Everyone carried in food, and Coach Meyer had put together a great slide show of pictures.  After we ate, each student was presented with their letter and pin as the coaches said a few words about them.

After the awards, Addie took advantage of the opportunity to treat Jeremy the same on his 40th birthday as he had done for her on her 14th.  (We were at Disney World on hers, and he sang "Happy Birthday" to her 14 times throughout the day as we were in different public places around EPCOT.)  She sang it to him 40 times in a row tonight!  

I was just impressed she didn't pass out after singing it that many times!

Celebrating Jeremy's 40th!

Our favorite guy is turning 40 tomorrow! Since we have Sylvia's track banquet and Jeremy will be packing to leave for several days tomorrow evening, we celebrated his birthday this evening when he came home from work.

We had some yummy bratwurst for supper, and there was a little bit of Mario Kart too.

Ice cream is one of Jeremy's favorite things in the world, 

so we had cookies and cream ice cream cake.  

(He was very aware that Annah as taking pictures, and hammed it up just for her.)

Big inhale for those 4 candles...

The kids worked together and made Jeremy a really neat book-style card.  Each of them created a 12x12 page that included a poem they wrote for him, and they worked on the cover and last page together.  On the last page each of them listed their 5 favorite things about Jeremy.

It was pretty touching. 

A few weeks ago, I contacted as many of Jeremy's friends and family as I could through Facebook and email. I asked if they would send Jeremy a card for his 40th birthday.  

Over 65 cards came for him!

Our friend Jill, who was one of Jeremy's neighbors growing up, remembered his long childhood nickname and addressed his card that way!

My brother was kind to include a considerate notice...

 I really appreciate everyone who sent cards for Jeremy!  It meant a lot to him!

 Although it was simple and pretty quiet, I hope Jeremy knows how much he is loved, and how grateful we are for his first 40 years!
