String Camp Concert

The String Camp concert was wonderful today!  We're really impressed with this program, and so glad they got to have this experience!!

(Sylvia is the one with the braid and the flower in her hair.)

Sylvia's chamber ensemble experience was a quintet.  They named themselves The Magic Pencils because of something that happened with their conductor and a pencil that became an inside joke this week.  They played Festive Fanfare by M. Cohen.

Annah also played in a quintet.  They randomly named themselves The Five Creepy Oreos, and they performed The Reaper's Song by R. Schumann, Arranged by D. Gazda.

Sylvia played in the beginner orchestra.  They did a great job, and learned a lot about playing with others and watching the conductor.  

The beginning orchestra played Appalachian Hymn by Soon Hee Newbold, and Defenders of Time by Rob Grice.

Annah played in the advanced orchestra again this year.  They played so musically!

It was hard to see Annah's face (She's in yellow.) from where we sat, but we could see she was enjoying the experience!

Yes, we are proud of our violinists!  

The girls' private lesson violin teacher, Mrs. Skinner, came to the concert with her daughter.
We just love her, and appreciate her support for the girls!

After the concert it was 1:30 and we were hungry.  Jeremy took us to lunch in downtown Bloomington at Michael's Restaurant.

The McLean County Museum of History was right next door, so we stopped for a quick chat with Abe on the way to the car.  :)

What a fun day and a fun week!  We're considering trying to make space in our crazy busy schedule for the girls to be part of the String Project year-round.  It's definitely worthwhile.  Thank you Gram & Krampa for making it possible for them to go to camp this week!
