Our District Church Family

We traveled to Pekin, Illinois today.

It was a very special occasion...the official NWIL District Installation Service of our friend Rev. Scott Sherwood as our new District Superintendent.  The service was very moving...

• All the district pastors gathered in to pray over Scott and Sherry 
• Scott's father presented him with a Bible (which happened to be his grandmother's) on behalf of the District Advisory Panel
• Sherry's father (a retired pastor on our district) prayed over Scott
• Scott spoke about many who have prayed for him, taught him, and led him closer to Jesus over the years
• And, our district received communion together

Directly after the service, there was a very long line to greet the Sherwood family at a reception.  I believe it took us at least 45 minutes to reach them for a few second conversation, but it was worth it.  We love and trust this family, and the work God is already doing through them!

It was also wonderful to see many of our Bloomington 1st family and hug them and know that even though we don't worship under the same roof every Sunday anymore, we are still all part of the same family.  We love them so much!

After the reception, our PoC family met at a nearby restaurant, the Busy Corner.  Caeden had been wanting to hold baby Joshy all day!

We took up about half the restaurant, but our servers were very kind and efficient!

Tonight, we each received nice plastic travel mugs with the PoC logo on them from the marketing team.  

We learned that all of our financial needs for the things we need to build and buy in August have been met, and we praise God!!!!!

During our dinner, we prayed for Baby Matthew, who was taken back to the hospital today with a high fever and a lot of pain.  We also pray for his cousin, Nathanael, who has been having unexplained seizures and was rushed to the hospital again today.  These sweet boys are so precious to the Lord!

We all had our choice of the AMAZING homemade pies!!  

I had Door County Cherry Pie, which was about the best piece of pie I've ever had.  Their crusts and whipped cream are all homemade!
