'Belters Game

We went to another Cornbelters game this evening!  It was a gorgeous night for a baseball game, and the stadium there is SO nice.  It's fun no matter what the score might be!

A player was handing out these koozies to everyone on our way in.  ( I have a fairly intense hatred for koozies, so I gave them away!)  We stopped for a quick pic next to the corn that grows in terraces on the side of the stadium lawn.  We figure it's being watered and will probably be the best crop anywhere in McLean County (the #1 corn-producing county in the nation, usually) this year, sadly.

A couple of Jeremy's former co-workers invited us to the game tonight.  They had won 20 tickets for a suite in a charity auction.  The suite was air conditioned and very nice, and we even had a private waitress!  But, we actually chose to sit outside right in front of it all night.

 Caeden was so excited to get to go jump in the Corny the Corn-a-saurus bounce house!

The girls even got in for a while too! 

The 'Belters lost 16-0!  It was kind of demoralizing, but we still enjoyed the game.  We sat next to a young lady and her baby and chatted with her all through the game.  We came to find out that her husband was the catcher and had just been traded here about a week ago.  She told us how they had to move the same day they found out he was traded!  It sounds like a difficult life...They don't have a home of their own and live with a host family here.  How difficult it must be to make friends, we thought, as she said most of the other guys on the team are younger and not married with families like her husband.

We had the nicest chat with her all evening long, and then felt horrible when she left and we realized we hadn't formally introduced ourselves.  So, when we got home I Googled her husband, Bubby Williams (who used to play for the Houston Astros!) and found her name--Tarin.  She must not have been totally creeped out when I sent her a message on Facebook, because she added me as a friend.  

BTW, Bubby had two of the 'Belters 3 hits tonight.

After the game, Caeden finally got his chance to roll down the big hill where the lawn "seats" are.  He was a bit dizzy after he got all the way down and tried to stand up, but I think he was satisfied.
