Sylvia played her cello in the String Project studio recital tonight. She did a great job. She really loves playing cello, and she loves working with Dr. Ransom. We are so fortunate for her to have the opportunity to study with Dr. R!
This semester Dr. R has been on sabbatical but continued to teach Sylvia. Some of her sabbatical research included color and ways musicians think about color and music. During a lesson in which they were discussing this, Sylvia came to realize that she thinks about and organizes everything in colors! They used it as a tool to label sections of her music, as you can see on the piece in her hand. So awesome!

It was an honor to accompany Sylvia. I told her that I love to play for her, though sometimes I think it would be nice to just watch and not worry about learning the music and having the stress of performing too. But, then I told her that accompanying keeps me from crying through her performances, so we decided it was a good thing for me to play. :)
