Caeden is participating in the youth wrestling program in Gibson City this winter. Daddy takes him 3 nights a week, and is helping out with coaching. Although Caeden has only been learning for a few weeks, Jeremy says he is picking it up pretty quickly and doing well. He loves it, for sure. And, it has already been good for him to have something that is just for him (and Daddy) and not his sisters too. ;)
Tonight, Caeden wrestled his first real match at a dual meet in Paxton. (Jeremy took him, as I had to take the girls to their violin lessons--an hour in the opposite direction from the meet. I was really bummed to have to miss his first match, but it was great to hear about it from him and his daddy!)
Yet another thing to make him look just like his dad! ;)
Jeremy said Caeden wrestled really well, as perfectly as he could have. He remembered what he has learned so far and used it, and listened to the coaches' instructions during the match. He won 10-8!
When Caeden came home, he looked really tired and his eyes were red. He told me he won his match, but that he had cried because he hurt the boy he wrestled. (Jeremy thought maybe he had knocked the wind out of him, but wasn't sure because it was at the end of the match.) Caeden said he felt so terrible for hurting the boy, but that he and Daddy had prayed for him, and watched to make sure that he got up and was okay.
I asked Caeden if he was nervous when he wrestled, and he said, "No, because I knew God was with me the whole time!"
