After their first full academic year in the String Project at Illinois State, the girls performed in the Spring Semester Concert today. We dropped them off at the Center for the Performing Arts at 8:40am to rehearse.
The concert began at 11am with the two beginning ensembles--Dolce and Allegro.
Sylvia played in the Vivace Class this year.

Since it was the final concert of the school year, all 4 of the ensembles combined for one piece--a grand finale. It was really, really neat for the girls to get to perform in an orchestra of over 120 kids!

Orpheus in the Underworld
This semester, the girls studied with one of the String Project teachers, Carol. They enjoyed lessons with her, and also hearing her cool accent and a little about the culture of her home country--Brazil.
After the concert, Jeremy took us out to lunch at Firehouse Pizza and to Emack and Bolio's for ice cream "in lieu of flowers" for the girls great performance.
Running the girls to ISU twice a week this semester was pretty exhausting, but definitely worth it. They love playing with their String Project ensembles, and have definitely grown as musicians through the experience this year!
