Spring Concert

Tonight, Annah, Sylvia, and I performed in the 4th through 8th grade Spring Concert at school.

Sylvia played her recorder with her entire 4th grade.  She loved getting to dress up in her Easter dress again and getting to perform with her friends.  (Jeremy, the camera man, didn't have a good view of her while she was playing.)  The kids did a great job--the best I've heard 4th grade recorders play together and follow their conductor!

Annah sang with her 6th grade choir.  They are a good group of pretty hardworking kids.

This semester, Annah was excited to get to sing the harmony part.  She has a very high range, but also a very solid understanding of harmony.  Mr. M. was pleased with how well she led out and helped her section to sing the second part.  She thoroughly enjoyed it.    

The arrangement of Hey Jude the choir performed had a fairly easy piano accompaniment, so I suggested that Mr. M. allow one of the students to play it and get the experience of accompanying her choir.  Justine did a great job!

Annah also had a solo at the beginning the song.  Although, I knew how she would do, she really shocked the crowd by singing out so confidently!  It was fun to hear the comments and compliments from her friends, other students, and teachers who know her as the super-quiet shy girl.  

Annah also played with the 6th grade band.  They are progressing nicely!

The concert was 2 hours, but so exciting to see the progress of each of the groups.  We are so fortunate to have such inspiring, knowledgable music teachers in our tiny little school!  They are doing great things with our kids.
