Homecoming Parade

It's always so fun to watch the Ridgeview Homecoming Parade go through Colfax.

This year, the floats were all great!  The theme was 80's movies.  The Seniors had Ghostbusters...

...which they turned into "Turkbusters" since we are playing the Turks on Friday night.

 The Turkbuster was, of course, a Mustang.

Annah helped a little bit with the float, but other members of the senior class came together to do it all on their own.  They've received less and less help from parents through the years.

Jeremy arrived at the school, and Annah shared with him the news that we'd received a call from her admission counselor at North Central College. She's been accepted and awarded the Presidential Scholarship, which is the highest scholarship available, worth $25,000 per year!

Ms. Taylor and Mrs. McDowell and Jeremy helped Annah get the big metal drum major podium set for the band's show after the parade.

Taylor dressed as Jack Skellington (the main character from Nightmare Before Christmas) for the evening, since that's the theme of the band's show.

The sophomore float theme was E.T. and included our very own mascot, Midnight the Mustang, and a fog machine!

The freshman float theme was Back to the Future.  I didn't get good pictures of the floats, but enjoyed seeing them all getting ready for the parade.  The junior float even included a ferris wheel they built!

While we walked uptown, Joyce (Ryan's mom) got some pictures of the Homecoming Court as they got ready for the parade!

After the firetrucks, Mr. Campbell, our HS principal who will be retiring after this school year, led the parade as Grand Marshall.

The sunset was so beautiful!!!  I stopped to take a picture of it as we were walking back to the football field from the parade because I had Annah's phone and knew she would've been taking pictures of it if she'd had it. She loves beautiful sunsets.

You can't see it, but the Jeep Annah and Ryan were riding in was crossing the tracks down the way when I took this picture.

Annah hopped out of the Jeep, took off her shoes, and ran around the track to get in place for the band's marching show.
