Lexington Invitational

Caeden swam in the Lexington Invitational today.  It was a big event, with 12 teams attending.  

He got his team swim cap today too.  

This was the bullpen.  Caeden enjoys chatting with the other swimmers and even encouraging his competitors.  He knows he can learn from them.

Caeden swam the 50 free, 25 breast, 25 back, and 25 free today.

I think backstroke has become Caeden's best stroke.  He had a great race today!  However, he flipped over too soon as he arrived at the wall and was disqualified.  (Many swimmers are afraid to come into the wall at full force on backstroke, because they don't want to crack their head on the side of the pool! Sometimes a coach, teammate, or timer will gently put their hand down between a swimmer's head and the wall to soften the impact.)

It sprinkled, drizzled, and rained most of the morning, but the swimmers kept swimming.  Jeremy volunteered as a timer through all of the preliminary races.

Caeden came in 9th in breaststroke, 15th in the 50 free, 16th in the 25 free, and might have even made the finals in his backstroke had he not been disqualified.  He improved on all of his times, and was happy with his progress.

Swimmers needed to make it into the top 6 to qualify for afternoon finals. Since Caeden didn't, we left after preliminary races.  While in town, it started to downpour. We got word that they had to stop finals and use the morning times as the final times.  Octavia came in 7th overall as a team with the morning scores.  A great day!
