This afternoon, Sylvia had the beautiful opportunity to play her cello for the sweet folks at the Alzheimer's center in town. We rushed to get her there in time to play last. She got off the bus, in the car, out of the car, got her cello out and sat down to play with her teacher. No time to warm up or run through the pieces together. It was a challenging and great experience for her!
She played 2 pieces, and the people so enjoyed it. I saw a few tapping their hands, and one man was patting the beat on a lady's back so she could feel the music.
Sylvia said that just as she sat down, she heard a lady in front say, "Oh, she's not going to be very good; she's just a little bitty thing. She hasn't been learning very long." And then when she finished the lady smiled and said, "Oh that was very nice!"
I know it was a blessing to the people at the center to hear the students play, and I'm glad Sylvia participated. It is a bit of a difficult atmosphere--especially for kids, with folks talking throughout, and some moaning. But, what a lovely way for the musicians and the audience to be blessed. We visited with a couple sweet ladies on our way out, as we had to rush Caeden and Annah to lessons.
After dropping Caeden back at school for wrestling practice (He's just watching right now, with his injured elbow.), we turned towards the west and were blown away by the colors in the sunset. Annah snapped a couple pics out the window as we drove.
