I could (and should) write the world's longest blog post about the Ridgeview-Lexington wrestling season that just ended, but ain't nobody got time for that. Sorry. I will just say that it was pretty amazing!
Some highlights:
- 1st time since the team started 6 years ago that there was a full roster!
- As a TEAM it was a winning season, with far more dual meets wins than losses!
- REGIONAL TEAM CHAMPS!
- NINE wrestlers in the championship round at Regionals!
- SIX wrestlers competed at Sectionals!
- Caeden had a wonderful winning season! He got 4th at Regionals in a very tough 160 weight class and ended up getting to wrestle at Sectionals!
- SECTIONAL TEAM CHAMPS!
- 3 wrestlers advanced to individual state!
- Going to TEAM STATE!!!
So much fun, improvement, goal-reaching, learning, teamwork, and achievement to be proud of!

Highlight of the day--when Cole, a senior who had decided a few days before to give wrestling a try, got a pin to help win the last dual of the day! Love seeing the team celebration mat side!!!
Team State 2-25-22
Getting to go to Team State was an incredible experience! While it didn't feel fair that we had to wrestle a wealthy private school with recruited elite athletes, being there was an honor and an awesome thing!

We had great community support, with wrestling alumni, parents, students, and administrators in attendance!
There were 2 mats running 1A meets, 2 running 2A, and 2 running 3A, all wrestling at the same time.
8 teams in each class competed on Friday night, then 4 on Saturday. Yorkville Christian beat RL on Friday night then went on to win the Team State Championship for 1A on Saturday.
