Senior Night

Friday night, so where else would we be--at the school!  We have an interim superintendent this year, and a new one has been hired for next year. So, Jeremy and I stopped in at the "Meet the Superintendent" reception on our way to the basketball game and met them both.  The girls had been in multiple ensembles playing and singing at the beginning of the reception, but I was teaching piano lessons and Jeremy was coaching wrestling.  We were a bit late getting into the gym, and missed a lot of the pep band's songs.  

I did catch a little of the excitement from the doorway of the gym before going in...

It is fun to see our community come together at the games.

At halftime, all of the pep band seniors were announced.  It was surreal to be walking Annah out there to the middle of the court, even thought we already did this once during football/marching band season.  Sylvia was so sweet to record it for us, and now I cry seeing Jeremy kiss Annah's head at the end of the clip--just like he has done so many times since the day she was born!

Fourteen senior music notes hanging outside the gym tonight!  Mr. Marchese repeatedly kept saying, "FOURTEEN of them!  And they're all GOOD.  They're such great kids, and such good musicians!  What am I going to do without them next year?!"

 Caeden's first match of the evening was against a Chiddix wrestler who placed at state last year. 

It was a tough one!

He did not emerge victorious.  He was pinned.

As difficult as it is for both of these guys, I am very thankful that Jeremy gets to coach Caeden and Caeden gets to be coached by Jeremy.  

The team did not fare well at all against Chiddix, and the coach approached Jeremy to ask if our team had actually beat Tremont early last week.  Tremont had beat Chiddix later in the week, so they were expecting Ridgeview to give them a hard time.  Coach Lopshire was extremely frustrated and gave his team a BIG talking-to in the corner of the gym before the next match!

It was a rough night, but it is always good to have more opportunities to learn and grow!

Pattern Test

Last week, I clicked on a photo for a hashtag I was following on Instagram that had beautiful crocheted items designed to look like macrame, and I realized it was a call for pattern testers.  I applied to test a pillow pattern and was surprised and thrilled to be chosen!

I thoroughly enjoyed working on this pattern by Erin Black of MidKnits!  It was so well designed and written, and I had a wonderful first testing experience!

I chose Antique White yarn, but knew a white pillow couldn't live in my house.  So, I made it for my friend Dawn.  She allowed me to take some photos of it in her bright cheery space!

Randoms of the week

Annah had to give up taking Art for her senior year, but this semester she is taking Yearbook with the Art teacher.  She gets to decorate a senior ceiling tile, and decided she wanted to do it with heat embossing with some of my old supplies.  She got to teach her art teacher about heat embossing today, and made this little fingerprint caterpillar to demonstrate.  

2/5/19 - It just makes me happy that we have 3 teenagers who love each other enough to sit together on the couch and enjoy having conversations!  I love them all so much.  My 3 hearts.

Musical auditions were this week, and the cast list was posted.  The show is Mama Mia (much to Annah's excitement!), and Annah has been cast as Donna and Sylvia as Tanya.  They will have lots of fun putting it together!

Caeden and I served the preschoolers in THRIVE at church this morning.  Our story was the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine, and we did a fun activity with food coloring and water!

Also, the kids played "basketball"--Caeden vs. team "Everyone Else."  Haha!

Sylvia has a cold this week, and is thankful for the wonders of Robitussin and NyQuil. 

Velocity was canceled this afternoon due to snow and ice, so Sylvia and Caeden went to youth group with Jacob in Colfax this evening!
