Tech Rehearsal #2

Second tech rehearsal for Willy Wonka tonight!  It went amazingly well!

The Bucket Family 

Mr. and Mrs. Bucket had a very formal way of nodding/curtseying goodbye to each other.

"Well, you see, Mike and I were..." Mrs. Teavee explains how Mike found the golden ticket, but is rudely interrupted by her son.

In one scene, Sylvia plays one of the squirrels that opens nuts in Wonka's Nut Room.

Mike Teavee has been shrunk by Wonkavision!

"He's barely 10 inches tall!"

I'm not sure I've ever been part of any show that has been this well-prepared and relaxed at this point the week of performances.  Tonight's rehearsal went so well that Ann canceled tomorrow's!  We're feeling really good about that, especially since the forecast is predicting it will be 104 tomorrow.  But, we're also feeling really good about the show!

Wonka Tech Rehearsal #1

Tonight we had our first technical rehearsal for Willy Wonka, Kids!  The kids were all in full makeup and costumes and looked fantastic!

Isn't Caeden the cutest little Oompa Loompa you've ever seen?!  

They all look so funny and adorable all made up!!

Though lovely, Annah is looking way too old as Mrs. Teavee!  

Sylvia is an adorable dusty and tired Mrs. Bucket.

I admit, I welled up a little when the full cast came on stage and started singing, "Once upon a chocolate time--a long, long chocolate time ago...the Golden Age of Chocolate began..."  

 Ann, our director, works tirelessly to get TWO shows ready every summer.  There are 59 kids in the Wonka cast and over 100 total involved in both shows this year!

We greatly appreciate the sound guys.
They are working more than 20 wireless mics taped to children's faces at a time!!!
That is very impressive!!

This is one of my favorite parts of the show, when Charlie and the grandparents dance around their house singing "I've got a golden ticket!"

"And with a golden ticket, it's a golden day!"

Ann jumps on stage to direct the scene... 

The families enter the factory during "Pure Imagination."

Oompa Loompas watch as the families enter the factory. 

Augustus Gloop is wheeled away after he falls into the chocolate.

 "What do you get when you guzzle down sweets,

Eating as much as an elephant eats?

What are you at getting terribly fat?

What do you think will come of that?"
