Today was one of those days that kind of sped by in a blur. Actually, this whole week has been that way, and I wasn't really anticipating it!
The kids were off school today for a teachers' in-service day. Many in our community spent the day in Peoria, as our HS boys basketball team played their first game in the state championship this afternoon. (Since I'm writing this after the fact, and it probably won't come up again...they lost their first game, but won their second, which means they were 3rd in the state. Pretty cool!) Back to today...Jeremy was working, and we had appointments to get to, so we didn't go to the game.
Our neighbors went over to Peoria to watch the Ridgeview game and another game which had a school one of their grandkids attends. They would be gone for quite a while, so they asked Caeden if he would come over and take care of their dog Britney a couple times today. I went over with him this morning to get the instructions, and for her to get used to him a little. She is a sweet doggie, and we enjoyed a few minutes visiting with Cliff and Loretta.
At 10am, I had my weekly 1-on-1 meeting at church with Pastor Todd. We recently had some schedule changes within the staff, and had to change our weekly staff meeting to monthly instead. So, we instituted weekly 1-on-1 meetings with Pastor Todd. He checks in with us on the #1 non-negotiable: How are we doing with staying daily in the presence of Jesus? He also asks about our family, and we discuss our to-do lists and what things we need each other to do, and other general church business. The kids usually come in and wait in the big sanctuary room if they have to come with me, but today there were inappropriate posters all over the room. We rent from and share the building with the IBEW, and they had rented the room out for a 30th birthday party. There were Beyonce posters and various things the kids decided not to look at for an hour. They sat in the car and read.
After my meeting, the girls had an orthodontist appointment. They both got new wires and bands. Annah got 2 colors of green for St. Patrick's Day, and Sylvia got silver and blue -- her school colors. Dr. said Sylvia's teeth had made a huge shift, that he is really impressed, and hopes that the rest of her treatment moves so quickly! She wasn't really surprised, as she'd said she could feel her teeth shifting, and had quite a bit of pain. After the appointment, the kids asked to have lunch at Moe's. We love Moe's!
Next, we went to Fleet Feet to get some running shoes for Sylvia. She starts her first track season on Monday! She thought it was a pretty cool process, as Kelly helped her choose shoes, socks, and inserts to help stabilize her ankles. She can't wait to get started running!
After Fleet Feet, we planned to check out the new HyVee store that opened in Bloomington on Tuesday. We drove by, and the parking lot was jammed. Since we actually had a grocery list, we decided to wait a while before checking it out. We went to Meijer instead. By the time we finished our grocery shopping, got home and put it all away, we were too tired to cook. We called Jeremy and asked him to bring Little Caesar's, and we sat down to watch Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
